POSITION STATEMENT ON SENATE BILL 5 AND HB 1014

May 18, 2016:
The Structural Engineers Association of Arkansas has been made aware of Senate Bill 5, an amendment to the Arkansas Code concerning earthquake resistant design.  The changes being proposed would significantly lower the seismic design values used in the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities. 
In the interest of public safety the Structural Engineers Association of Arkansas opposes the proposed bill and has issued the following position statement.
